Pay range
RM50 – RM140 per hour
Actual rate depends on level taught, your qualifications and experience (IPG-trained / ex-KPM teacher / native-speaker graduate), and lesson format. SPM 6354 karangan coaching, HSK advanced levels and UEC senior middle (高中) sit at the upper end.
The role
What you will do
- Plan and deliver 1-to-1 or small-group Bahasa Cina lessons aligned to the KPM syllabus, KSSR for SJK(C) Tahun 1-6 and KSSM for SMJK Tingkatan 1-5.
- Build reading, writing and oral proficiency in Mandarin: character recognition, hanyu pinyin, reading aloud, and conversational fluency.
- Prepare students for SPM Bahasa Cina (6354): drill karangan (essay) structure, komprehensif (comprehension) technique, ringkasan and past-year LPM papers.
- Support HSK candidates (Levels 1-6) where applicable, and stretch advanced learners on the UEC route at independent Chinese high schools (独中).
- Share regular, honest progress updates with parents after each topic or assessment.
Who we are looking for
- A degree with strong Mandarin proficiency, a Chinese Studies degree, or an Education degree with Bahasa Cina as a teaching option.
- IPG-trained tutors and ex-KPM Bahasa Cina teachers from SJK(C) or SMJK are strongly preferred.
- Bilingual fluency in Mandarin and English or BM, so you can explain concepts to mixed-background families.
- Solid familiarity with the KPM Bahasa Cina syllabus and the SPM 6354 format, plus HSK or UEC where relevant.
- At least 1 year of tutoring or classroom teaching experience in Bahasa Cina.
- Based in Malaysia and eligible to work here, reliable and genuinely good with students.

Do I need to be IPG-trained to tutor Bahasa Cina?
No. IPG-trained tutors and ex-KPM SJK(C) or SMJK teachers are preferred and earn at the higher end, but graduates with strong Mandarin proficiency and tutoring experience are very welcome to apply.
Can I focus only on SPM Bahasa Cina (6354) candidates?
