The baseline IPTS foundation gate is 5 IGCSE subjects at grade C / 4 or above including English Language 0500 / 0510 / 4EA1 and Mathematics 0580 / 4MA1. IGCSE sits at SPM level, not PT3 level. Transfers must enter Year 10
Under MQF, IGCSE (Year 10 + Year 11) is mapped to Level 2 alongside SPM Form 4 + Form 5, not to PT3. A Form 3 PT3 leaver transferring from a KPM-stream school typically enters Year 10 at an international school and starts IGCSE from scratch. There is no fast-track shortcut that skips Year 10. Cambridge IGCSE stays A*-G; only UK domestic GCSE moved to 9-1
Cambridge IGCSE retains the A*–G grade scale (with U for ungraded), distinct from UK domestic GCSE which moved to 9–1 in 2017. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE did move to 9–1 from 2017. This means a Cambridge IGCSE grade A* is the top, while an Edexcel International GCSE grade 9 is the top: both are MQF Level 2-equivalent. Conversion rough rule: 9 ≈ A* / high A, 7 ≈ A, 6 ≈ B, 4 ≈ C (the standard pass).
