Form 1 is the only structurally clean window to close gaps between the KSSR primary baseline and KSSM secondary depth. Mathematics jumps in abstraction from Year 6, Bahasa Melayu Karangan structure is new after primary Pemahaman, and Sains introduces the PEKA practical workflow for the first time. A weak Form 1 silently becomes Form 3 PT3 firefighting and a worse Form 4 stream decision two years later.
PBD TP1–TP6 bands are the parallel record schools actually use
Performance Standards TP1 (Tahu / Knows) up to TP6 (Know, Understand, Can Do with Decorum / Mastery) is reported every term via PBD (Classroom Assessment). Schools use the PBD record alongside PT3 grades to inform the Form 4 stream conversation, and PBD continues into Form 4–5 in parallel with SPM. Under MBMMBI (Memartabatkan Bahasa Malaysia, Memperkukuh Bahasa Inggeris, post-PPSMI), Sains and Matematik are taught in Bahasa Melayu at SK / SMK and in Mandarin / Tamil at SJK feeders. DLP (Dual Language Programme) lets KPM-approved schools teach Sains + Matematik + RBT + ASK in English with parental opt-in.
